At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital we are committed to serving our community and addressing the needs of all our patients. The following programs were developed to assist people in the area we serve.
- HealthWise 55-Senior Services Membership Program
HealthWise 55 is a comprehensive health promotion program
designed to meet the needs of people 55 and older. It costs nothing to
join, but certain services require a small fee. Card carrying members
are entitled to the following benefits: Health screenings and educational
programs, notary public services for Advance Directives, meal and gift
shop discounts at the hospital and a travel club discount. Members of
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's HealthWise 55 Senior Membership Program
receive free installation and a discount on the monthly fee for the "LIFELINE" Emergency
Response System.
" LIFELINE" is a 24-hour service designed to meet the needs of elderly, handicapped
and functionally impaired persons who live alone. The unit consists of a
home transmitter with a built-in digital communicator that, when activated
by a patient, automatically signals for help over existing telephone lines.
Installation of the unit by a local coordinator can be done easily in any
home for a modest rental fee. For information or to enroll, please call

- Financial Aid
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital offers financial aid information
and a variety of resources to assist patients with their hospital bills.
Patients may
qualify for the Financial Aid program that covers all or
part of your bill on an assessment of income and assets. Applications
and information
are available by calling Financial Assistance at (603) 740-3234.
A family resource counselor is also available to assist patients and
their family
members with financial assistance and community service referrals
at (603) 740-2431.

- Medication Assistance Program
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has developed a resource for low income, working poor or elderly patients needing assistance in obtaining free or reduced cost medications. The program is available for patients who have a primary care physician at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. For more information, please call (603) 740-3376.
- Physician Referral Service
Give the Wentworth Douglass Hospital Physician Referral Service a call at (603) 740-2377 from 9a.m. to 4p.m. Monday through Friday. This number offers referrals to over 100 area doctors as well as information on other community programs and services. To receive a complimentary Directory of Physicians or Directory of Services, please call (603) 740-2817.
- Care-Van
The Care-Van provides courtesy patient transport throughout the Seacoast Area. The wheelchair accessible vans are available on a first come, first serve basis and appointments are necessary. Hospital staff will make appointments for van service, and patients will be picked up at their home, brought to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment and returned home. All Care-Van drivers are nationally registered EMTs, who are additionally trained through the National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course. A family/friend or other caregiver is welcome to accompany the patient on the van. For more information, please call (603) 740-2520.
- Wentworth-Douglass Community Dental Center
The Wentworth-Douglass Community Dental Center is open to low-income, uninsured adults and children living in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's primary service area.
In New Hampshire: Dover, Durham, Madbury, Lee, Barrington, Somersworth and Rollinsford
In Maine:

In order to qualify for care family income must be at or below 300% of Federal poverty level based on the number of members in the household. Minimum payments of $20-$40 per visits well be charged based on household income. Flat fees will be charged for dentures, partials and other services (available on a limited basis).
NH Healthy Kids, Medicaid, MaineCare patients in the service area, who financially qualify, are welcome.
