Preparing for Surgery

Anesthesia Information

During your pre-operative visit or telephone interview, you will undergo an assessment for anesthesia and have an opportunity to ask questions about anesthesia. Because your anesthesiologist is responsible for your medical care during the entire course of surgery, it is important to know as much as possible about your overall medical condition.

In order to undergo the stress of surgery and anesthesia, occasionally the opinion of another specialist, such as a cardiologist, or additional testing may be needed to help in your assessment.

If you have been scheduled for a pre-admission testing visit, you will meet with the anesthesia Nurse Practitioner or an Anesthesiologist. If you do not meet with an Anesthesiologist in the Pre-Admission Services clinic and you wish to see one, you can request to see the Anesthesiologist
